This four letter word that I am thinking of is one of the best emotions to feel and at the same time it is one of the hardest emotions to show to the people around you at times. It is an emotion that can make you feel so important and valued, but if it is displayed in the wrong context, it can also hurt you deeply. The four letter word I am referring to is “L-O-V-E”.
Love is the emotion that can make you feel so good that you suddenly have the urge to dance in the street while singing loudly. It can move you to sacrifice something that was once really important to you for someone that you want to show emotion for. Love makes you feel like you are on top of the world. However, if love is confused with lust or immature romance, it can be one of the most painful emotions to recover from. Love can convince two people that it may not be such a bad thing to have sex before marriage.
Read these three words carefully.
True Love Waits.
Such a cliche phrase that I am sure all of you have heard multiple times in your life. However, look for the meaning of those words. If you truly love someone and put their best interest above anything else in your world, give them the most valuable thing you can by waiting. Satan tries to fill our heads with lies that seem to make a lot of sense sometimes so we start doubting whether or not something is actually a sin. If two people have been dating for two years, are madly in love, and about to become engaged, Satan may start whispering lies into their heads saying “It doesn’t matter if you wait. You know you will end up together anyway. God told you not to sleep together yet? Wow, He just doesn’t want you to have any fun, does He?” Satan will continue to whisper these lies to us until we start questioning right from wrong and we begin to slip away from the truth. God is trying to protect you from heartache.
A good father disciplines his children to protect them.
“My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him. For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.” It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline?” Hebrews 12:5-11
11 Now all discipline seems painful at the time, not joyful. But later it produces the fruit of peace and righteousness for those trained by it.” Hebrews 12:11
Be joyful and try to thank God for his protection and authority today. Glorify Him with purity and love.
